Police officials said the action was taken based on intelligence inputs and continuous monitoring of suspected drug trafficking networks. The operations are part of an ongoing effort to dismantle supply chains involved in the illegal trade of narcotics.
Along with strict enforcement, the campaign also focuses on rehabilitation and social recovery. During the latest operations, 35 individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, highlighting the state’s dual approach of law enforcement and support for those affected by substance abuse.
According to official data, 53,562 drug smugglers have been arrested in the 378 days of the campaign, reflecting the large-scale efforts being carried out to tackle the drug menace in the state.
Officials said that the campaign involves coordinated action by multiple police units, including the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, local district police teams and intelligence units. Regular raids, surveillance operations and community engagement programmes are being conducted to identify and disrupt drug supply chains.
Authorities have also been focusing on spreading awareness about the dangers of drug abuse through community outreach initiatives, encouraging families and local communities to support rehabilitation efforts for affected individuals.
The campaign forms a key part of the state government’s strategy under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to combat drug abuse and strengthen public safety across Punjab. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with the police and report information related to drug trafficking to help make the state drug-free.
