DA Hike: – In a move to benefit its employees ahead of Diwali, the state government is preparing to gift a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike and a bonus. According to high-ranking government sources, the necessary documentation is underway. Around 8 lakh employees will receive the bonus, while approximately 15 lakh state employees and teachers will benefit from an increase in DA, which will rise from 50% to 54%. The hike will be retroactively calculated from July. The bonus will be determined based on basic pay and DA, with last year’s payout averaging around ₹7,000 for state employees. This provision applies to non-gazetted officers.
Positive Moves Expected for Ad Hoc Teachers and Shiksha Mitras
A separate meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya, was held to address the issues of ad hoc teachers and Shiksha Mitras from Basic, Secondary, and Higher Education departments. A positive decision regarding salaries and honorariums for these educators is expected soon.

Teacher representatives raised concerns over an order dated November 9, 2023, regarding ad hoc teachers in non-government aided secondary schools, as court rulings have favored salary disbursement, but the department has yet to act. The Deputy Chief Minister inquired about the number of affected individuals, to which teacher MLA Raj Bahadur Singh Chandel stated that only 1,200 employees remain, and resolving this issue would not create a significant financial burden. A decision is anticipated within a month.
Additionally, the issue of pension eligibility for teachers regulated under the March 22, 2016, order was discussed. It was agreed that decisions regarding the inclusion of ad-hoc and qualifying services would also be finalized within a month.
Concerns were also raised regarding the prolonged vigilance investigations of 40,000 teachers and employees from 1981 to 2020. Teacher leaders requested that investigations focus on specific complaints rather than subjecting all teachers and employees to scrutiny. Further, it was suggested that the Director of Education (Secondary) issue a formal communication to address the matter.
The meeting concluded with discussions about the service security rules for the State Education Service Selection Commission, with plans to include specific sections from the 1998 Selection Board Rules to ensure transparency and fairness in service-related procedures.
