Blinkit, the popular instant delivery app, has expanded its services to include ambulance bookings in the city, with a launch announcement made by the company's CEO, Albinder Dhinsa, on Thursday. The service will be available starting with five ambulances equipped with essential life-saving equipment.

Blinkit Ambulance Service Goes Live in Gurugram

In a move aimed at addressing the urgent need for quick and reliable ambulance services, Blinkit has introduced the ability to book ambulances through its app, with the first five Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances already on the road in Gurugram. Dhinsa confirmed that the service will be available via the app, offering customers a reliable and timely solution in medical emergencies.

The ambulances will be equipped with vital medical equipment, including oxygen cylinders, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each ambulance will also be staffed with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure quick and effective response in critical situations.

Affordable and Sustainable Service Expansion

Blinkit has emphasized that the introduction of the ambulance service is not driven by profit motives. According to Dhinsa, the service is being offered at an affordable cost, with the aim to solve the pressing issue of emergency medical services. The company plans to expand the service to all major cities over the next two years, enhancing the accessibility of essential medical assistance.

The cost of a ride in the Blinkit ambulance is set at Rs 2,000, though the service will not support neonatal or ventilator care at this stage. Blinkit’s CEO highlighted that the company’s long-term goal is to make ambulance services more accessible to people in need, underlining the importance of expanding this initiative to major cities across India.

As the service scales up, it will likely change the landscape of emergency medical services in urban areas, offering more prompt and reliable care to those who need it most.
