The Income Tax Department of India has officially enabled the online filing facility for Income Tax Return Form ITR-3 for the Assessment Year 2024-25. This development was shared via the department’s official social media handle, offering relief and clarity for professionals and individuals running businesses.
Taxpayers can now file their ITR-3 directly through the official Income Tax e-filing portal.
The online interface for ITR-3 can also be accessed via the direct link:

The ITR-3 form applies to individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who earn income from proprietary business or profession. It is also applicable to taxpayers with income as a partner in a firm or those earning under presumptive income schemes beyond the specified limits under Sections 44AD, 44ADA, or 44AE.
This launch is a part of the phased release of income tax forms for AY 2024-25. Previously, ITR-1, ITR-2, and ITR-4 were made available for e-filing. With ITR-3 now accessible, a large segment of self-employed professionals, business owners, and firm partners can complete their return submissions without delay.
This development was shared via the department’s official social media handle
The Income Tax Department has also reminded taxpayers to file their returns before the due date, which has been extended to September 15, 2025 for this year. Filing beyond this date may attract penalties, interest, or a notice from the department.
Taxpayers are advised to carefully select the correct ITR form, verify all income details, and ensure accuracy while submitting returns. Those needing assistance can refer to FAQs on the portal or contact the department through the helpline numbers provided on the official website.
This step is in line with the government's continued focus on digitization and easing the compliance burden for taxpayers.
