Indians In US To See 500 Per Cent Jump In Income

According to the World Development Report (WDR), the income of those working abroad increases by 120%. On the other hand, only 40% income increases on migrating to India. In the report released on Tuesday, it has been estimated that Indian workers going to America get the most benefits. His income increases by about 500%. After this, there is an increase of about 300% in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the report, the income of workers away from home but within the country (internal migration) increases by only 40%. That is, on going abroad, you can earn three times more than here.

Income increases by about 500%

While those migrating to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, benefit slightly less. According to the report, there is a huge increase in the income of skilled workers like doctors and techies. The income of those with low skills also increases manifold in foreign countries. According to the report, around 184 million people are migrants worldwide. Means about 2.3% of the total population, including 3.7 crore refugees.

WDR noted how remittances have increased in some countries with large migrant populations, including India, Mexico, China and the Philippines. It is estimated that an Indian expatriate worker in the UAE remits around 70% of her income to the family, with women likely to send a higher amount. Income increases by about 120% on migrating from India to Gulf countries. The income of those working from Philippines to Korea increases up to 250 percent. Migrating to Malaysia from Bangladesh earns 210% more.

According to the World Development Report 2023, maximum migration from India takes place in America and Gulf countries. The number of people coming to India from Bangladesh is also significant. Mexico-US, China-US, Philippines-US and Kazakhstan-Russia are also among the top migration corridors. WDR has said in its report that such progress cannot be achieved in our country. The income gain on migrating abroad is so huge that it will take decades to reach it in our own country.
