Amid rising inflation in the country, Mother Dairy, a milk supply company, has increased the price of full cream milk by Re 1 per liter in Delhi-NCR. Along with this, the price of tokenized milk has been increased by Rs 2 per litre. The increased prices on milk by Mother Dairy will be applicable from Monday, 21 November. Earlier, Mother Dairy had increased the price of Full Cream Milk and cow's milk by Rs 2 per liter in the month of October as well.
Fourth round of milk price hike by Mother Dairy this year
The company said that the increase in prices has been done due to the increase in cost. This is the fourth round of milk price hike by Mother Dairy this year.
A company spokesperson said that Mother Dairy has increased the price of full cream milk by Re 1 to Rs 64 per litre. However, the company has not changed the prices of full cream milk sold in 500 ml packs.
Token milk will be sold at Rs 50 per liter as against Rs 48 per liter from Monday. The hike in milk prices may hit the household budget at a time when food inflation is already at a high level.
The company gave this reason
Mother Dairy has attributed the hike in prices to the increase in the cost of procuring raw milk from dairy farmers. Mother Dairy spokesperson says that this year a huge gap is being seen in the demand and supply of milk in the entire dairy industry. The company said raw milk availability has been affected due to increased cost of feed and fodder and erratic monsoon putting pressure on raw milk prices. Apart from this, the demand for processed milk has also increased.
Mother Dairy said the revision in prices will enable the company to continue supporting farmers with fair remuneration while ensuring quality milk for consumers. Mother Dairy gives milk producers about 75-80 per cent of the price paid by consumers. On October 16, Mother Dairy increased the prices of full cream milk and cow's milk by Rs 2 per liter in Delhi-NCR and some other markets in North India.
Milk prices increased for the fourth time
The company says that in some parts of North India, the situation has worsened due to less rainfall and increase in fodder prices, so the price of milk has to be increased. Mother Dairy has increased the price of milk for the fourth time this year. In March, the price of milk was increased by Rs 2 per liter in Delhi-NCR, followed by Rs 2 per liter in the same region in August. Then in October, the price of milk was increased for the third time.
