These female founders were honored during district-level Independence Day celebrations, highlighting their pivotal roles in driving technological advancements and economic growth in Punjab.
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through SHE Initiative
The honored startups are being supported through the Startup’s Handholding and Empowerment (SHE) Initiative, a program under the Punjab State Innovation Council, led by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST). This initiative is a key component of Mission Innovate Punjab, a larger effort by the Department of Science and Technology aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs. By providing technological support and resources, the program seeks to foster the creation of ventures that generate employment and boost the state’s economy.
Innovations in Health and Agriculture

Dr. Vipasha Sharma of MKelly Biotech Pvt Ltd., Dr. Aman and Dr. Daman Walia of Millet Sisters, and Dr. Rosy Singla of Rosy Foods have all contributed to improving the nutritional profile of millets. Their work includes developing customized ready-to-eat products and beverages tailored for pregnant women, lactating mothers, undernourished children, and diabetics, addressing critical nutritional needs in these populations.
In the agricultural sector, Dr. Ritu Mahajan of RiBioP AgroTech Private Limited has developed an innovative biodegradable and non-toxic composition for preparing nano-bio-pesticides. Her startup’s breakthrough promises to offer a sustainable alternative to traditional pesticides, aligning with the growing demand for eco-friendly agricultural practices.
Recognition of a Growing Innovation Ecosystem
The recognition of these women-led startups underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative ecosystem in the state. By celebrating these achievements, the government aims to inspire more women to venture into entrepreneurship and contribute to the state’s technological and economic progress.
Punjab’s Chief Minister, while congratulating the startups, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in innovation and entrepreneurship, stating, “These women-led ventures are not only driving innovation but are also playing a crucial role in shaping the future of Punjab. Their contributions are invaluable, and we are committed to providing them with the necessary support to continue their journey.”
A Vision for the Future
As the Punjab government continues to support and empower women entrepreneurs through initiatives like SHE, the state is poised to become a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
