Stock Market Today: Asian shares trade higher as the SGX Nifty signals positive start

Stock Market Today: The Singapore Exchange's Nifty futures traded 106 points, or 0.61 percent, higher at 17,461, indicating that Dalal Street would have a good start on Friday.
On the daily chart today, a long bear candle formed, engulfing the uptrend from the previous session. Technically, this pattern suggests that the recent upside bounce lacked strength, and the weakness is likely to last for the foreseeable future, according to Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Tokyo stocks open higher on US gains, cheap yen

Despite concerns over tighter US monetary policy, a weaker yen and US rallies on bargain hunting helped Tokyo stocks open higher on Friday. The broad Topix index increased 0.64 percent, or 12.73 points, to 2,007.30 while the benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.70 percent, or 192.37 points, in early trade.

Stock Market Today: Rupee falls 11 paise to close at 82.60 against US dollar

On Thursday, the rupee lost 11 paise to close at 82.60 against the US dollar as weaker investor sentiment was exacerbated by a stronger dollar in international markets and a flat domestic equity market.

Oil prices

Although oil prices fell in early Friday trade, they were still expected to end the week up nearly 2% as a rebound in factory activity in China offset growing concerns about rising U.S. crude stocks and potential rate hikes in Europe.

Asian stocks up

After Wall Street reversed losses on Friday, Asian shares increased on expectations of a strong economic recovery in China and signals of a measured U.S. Federal Reserve policy tightening approach.
