Stock Market Today: The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 65 points, or 0.1%, to close at 66,408. The broader NSE Nifty fell 17 points, or 0.09%, to close at 19,794. The NSE IX GIFT Nifty rose 24.5 points, or 0.12%, to 19699.50, indicating that Dalal Street was set for a bullish start on Friday. The Nifty ended 17 points lower today, forming a tiny Spinning Top candle on the daily chart.
Rupee falls against US Dollar
The rupee interrupted its two-day gains on Thursday, settling 6 paise lower at 83.24 against the US dollar, as rising crude oil prices dampened investor optimism. Oil prices jumped on Friday after the United States reinforced sanctions against Russian oil exports, boosting supply fears in an already tight market, and global stockpiles are expected to fall through the fourth quarter.

Temasek has extended the Infosys-Temasek digital services joint venture for another five years. Attrition at Infosys declined to 14.6% in Q2 FY24, down from 17.3% the previous quarter. The interim dividend was declared at Rs 18 per equity share, with the record date set for Oct. 25.
In Q2, the company had its highest-ever new bookings of $4 billion. Its attrition rate dropped to 14.2% from 23.8% the previous year. The interim dividend was declared at Rs 12 per equity share, with the record date set for Oct. 20.
A 33% share in a South African unit will be sold for ZAR 23.95 million (about Rs 10.5 crore) by the company. Divestment is being carried out in accordance with South African Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment principles.
