Stock Market Today: The benchmark Sensex on the BSE gained 502 points, or 0.77%, to close over 66,000. To finish at 19,564, NSE Nifty gained 151 points, or 0.78%. All three main U.S. stock indexes achieved strong weekly gains despite the S&P 500's small decline on Friday, with bank and financial equities generally lower on the day after quarterly reporting that started earnings season.
Stock Market Today: Nifty base shifts to 19,200 from 19K
Nifty today formed a lengthy bull candle with a tiny lower shadow on the daily chart by closing roughly 151 points higher and well above the resistance zone at 19,500-mark. According to analysts, the chart pattern shows an attempt at a major upward breakout of the recent sessions' narrow range movement between 19300 and 19500.
Rupee depreciated
Following a recovery in the US dollar against its international rivals and solid crude prices, the rupee lost 9 paise to close at 82.17 against the US dollar on Friday, ending its four-day winning streak.
Stocks in focus
Tata Elxsi, HDFC Bank, and LTIMindtree
As each company releases its first quarter financial results today, attention will be focused on the shares of HDFC Bank, LTIMindtree, and Tata Elxsi.
Angel One and Mahindra and Mahindra
Leading broker Angel One has stopped adding new authorised persons (APs) because it allegedly failed to keep an eye on their activities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between M&M Mahindra & Mahindra and NXP was inked to investigate the electrified and connected vehicle landscape. This agreement covers a variety of vehicles, including tractors, light trucks, farm machinery, and utility vehicles.
