Stock Market Today: After surging to record high levels last week, profit-taking caused the equity benchmark indices to continue falling in early trade on Monday. Following a dismal start, the 30-share BSE Sensex lost 156.76 points to end at 62711.74. The more inclusive NSE Nifty fell 38.95 points to 18657.15.
Stock Market Today: Tokyo stocks open lower
After a mixed close on Wall Street, Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday as markets evaluated the implications of a strong jobs data for US monetary policy. Early trading saw a 0.25 percent, or 70.56 points, decline in the benchmark Nikkei 225 index while the larger Topix index down 0.37 percent, or 7.15 points, to 1,946.83.
Stock Market Today: Oil prices recovered further
As oil prices continued to increase, Indian government bond yields traded slightly higher on Monday as the rest of the world's markets awaited the announcement of the country's monetary policy, which is scheduled for later this week.
As of 10:05 a.m. , the benchmark 10-year yield was 7.2283%. It had dropped by eight basis points the previous week and was finalised at 7.2215% on Friday.

According to a trader at a state-run bank, it is unlikely that the 7.20% levels would be broken during the day. The trader suggested that market participants may now decide to hold off on increasing new positions until the policy decision is made.
Top winners
Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Power Grid, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, HDFC, and Reliance Industries were the major laggards among the Sensex pack.
Among the winners were Wipro, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, and.
Markets in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong quoted higher while Seoul traded down elsewhere in Asia.
