Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex likely to open flat, SGX Nifty down 26 points

Stock Market Today: Domestic indices are eyeing a flat start amid muted global signals. Futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) traded 26 points, or 0.14%, lower at 18,212 earlier today. Asian markets traded in the green, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng up 0.4%, China’s Shanghai Composite up 0.41%, South Korea’s KOSPI up 0.72% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 unchanged. US markets closed Friday’s session in the red, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) down 0.33%, the S&P 500 down 0.14% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq down 0.24%. On Friday, the NSE Nifty 50 jumped 73.45 points or 0.41% to 18,203.40 and the BSE Sensex jumped 297.94 points or 0.48% to 61,729.68. In industrial indices, Bank Nifty rose 217.1 points or 0.50% to 43,969.40, Nifty IT soared 1.47% and Nifty Pharma fell 0.96%.

Asian Market trade green

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), the S&P 500, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq all closed Friday’s trading day in the negative. Asian markets were trading in green, with the Hang Seng in Hong Kong up 0.4%, the Shanghai Composite index in China rising 0.41%, the KOSPI in South Korea rising 0.72%, and the Nikkei 225 in Japan trading flat.

European Stock Market Indexes Updates

On Friday, European stock market indexes rose as investors’ spirits were lifted by the development of US debt ceiling negotiations. The US Republican lawmakers suspended the debt ceiling discussions immediately before the close of Friday’s trading day. Retail stocks closed down, while financial services and construction stocks led the gains.

On Friday, the DAX in Germany increased its gains from the previous session by 0.69 percent and nearly reached a record high. Additionally, the FTSE and CAC closed up by 0.19 percent and 0.60 percent, respectively.

On May 22, 2023, Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, Waaree Technologies, PB Fintech, HCL Infosystems, HEG, Indiabulls Housing Finance, CESC, Capri Global Capital, EIH, Finolex Industries, Fusion Micro Finance, Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals, Radiant Cash Management Services, SJVN, and Waaree will all release their most recent quarterly financial results.
