Supertech tower demolition; twin towers to be filled with explosives

Noida’s Supertech twin towers are to be demolished on 21 August 2022 at 2:30 pm after being filled with explosives. The filling of explosives into the twin towers will start from August 2 to August 20 2022, the Noida authority announced on July 13. As per the officials, only employees of Edifice Engineering (demolition company) will be permitted at the time when the building would be filled with explosives.

CEO of Noida authority Ritu Maheshwari headed the meeting On July 19 and the representatives from Supertech, Edifice Engineering, the fire department, the UP Pollution control board, and the local police attended a lengthy discussion over the status of demolition of illegally built Supertech twin towers, Apex and Ceyane respectively.

The decision of exploding the twin towers came after the Supreme Court issued an order in which it declared the Supertech twin towers in Sector 93A Unconstitutional. After the meeting that included the resident welfare association (RWA) of the neighbouring societies- ATS Village and Emerald Court. Edifice Engineering submitted a status report addressing the demolition, according to a statement released by the Noida Authority.

The company contracted for the demolition of the tower has been asked to install a suitable number of CCTV cameras on the property by July 21. However, the police keep an eye on it, it further said.

“Along with this, Edifice Engineering said that the demolition proceedings would be done on August 21 at 2.30 pm,” the Noida Authority said.

“Holes have been drilled in the pillars on various floors of the twin towers where explosives would be placed from August 2 till August 2. During this period, only the personnel of Edifice Engineering will be allowed entry into the premises,” it said.

Moreover, the company is instructed to put cover sheets in order to cover shrubs and [arks of ATS Village and Emerald Court from post-blast dust and to decide by July 30 the height of the iron sheet that is going to place in between the building and the neighbouring buildings as well to stop the dust from moving here and there.
