Top 5 stocks of the day: The biggest losers on the Nifty were Divis Laboratories, Adani Ports, SBI, ITC and Titan Company. However, the winners were Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Asian Paints. Apart from banking, all other sectoral indices ended in the red with real estate, oil and gas, PSU banking, power, pharma, FMCG and capital goods down 1-2 percent. The BSE index of medium companies fell by 0.67 percent and the index of small companies by 0.26 percent.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

Benchmarks declined for the third straight session on May 18, with the Nifty trading below 18,150. At the close, the Sensex was down 128.90 points, or 0.21 percent, at 61,431.74 and the Nifty was down 51.80 points, or 0.28 percent, at 18,130. About 1,530 stocks advanced, 1,846 declined and 124 were unchanged.

Top 5 stocks of the day: Godrej Agrovet partners with SBI

Godrej Agrovet in partnership with State Bank of India is launching a financing offer for oil palm growers. The product, jointly developed by the company and SBI, enables farmers to obtain loans to build a micro-irrigation plant, build a fence to protect livestock from grazing, and improve tube wells in oil palm farms. Godrej Agrovet was trading at Rs 423.75, up 1.40 or 0.33 percent on the BSE.
