Top 5 stocks of the day: Top gainers on the Nifty included Coal India, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, and LTIMindtree, while losers included Power Grid Corp, Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Hospitals, Bajaj Finserv, and IndusInd Bank. Sector-wise, the Realty index decreased by over 2%, the PSU Bank index down by 0.5%, the Information Technology index increased by 1%, and the Metal index increased by 0.75 %.

Standard indices saw a tumultuous day on August 1 and ended with slight losses. The Nifty was down 20.30 points or 0.10% at 19,733.50 at closure, and the Sensex was down 68.36 points or 0.10% at 66,459.31. 2032 shares increased in price, 1437 shares decreased, and 156 shares were steady. The BSE Smallcap index increased 0.5 percent while the BSE Midcap index decreased by 0.2 percent.
