Top 5 stocks of the day: Sensex and NSE Nifty50

On June 22, benchmark indices declined, with the Nifty closing below 18,800. The Nifty was down 85.50 points or 0.45 percent at 18,771.30 at closure, and the Sensex was down 284.26 points or 0.45 percent at 63,238.89. 2,139 shares fell, 1,294 shares rose, and 123 shares remained constant.

Oil dips with interest rates and inventories in focus

Following early data that indicated a decline in stocks, traders’ anticipation of more interest rate increases were offset by potentially optimistic U.S. oil inventory data, which led to a modest decline in oil futures on Thursday. At 08:40 GMT, Brent futures decreased by 47 cents, or 0.6 percent, to reach $76.65 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil futures fell by 44 cents, or 0.6 percent, to reach $72.09.

The benchmarks had strengthened the session before as U.S. maize and soybean prices soared to multi-month highs, prompting hopes that crop shortages may reduce the amount of biofuels blended and raise oil demand.
