Rupee rises by 10 paise to 82.81 against US dollar
In early trade on Wednesday, the rupee strengthened by 10 paisas to 82.81 US cents against the US dollar, recovering from the 8-month low level as the US dollar fell against main rivals abroad. However, analysts noted that the local unit was negatively impacted by sluggish equities markets, a flight of foreign capital, and crude prices that exceeded USD 85 per barrel.
Participants were trading cautiously as they awaited Thursday's announcements of the RBI's monetary policy decision, the UK's GDP result, and the US inflation data.
