Top 5 stocks of the day: From HDFC Life Insurance to Tat Consumer Products, here are the top gainers today

Top 5 stocks of the day: HDFC Life Insurance, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, and Tata Consumer Products were the top gainers on the Nifty, while BPCL, Coal India, NTPC, Adani Ports, and Axis Bank were the top losers. On the sectoral front, the pharma index increased by 1%, while the PSU Bank index increased by 0.8 percent. The BSE midcap index finished unchanged, while the smallcap index gained 0.5 percent.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

In a turbulent session on March 22, benchmark indices finished higher. The Sensex closed up 139.91 points, or 0.24%, at 58,214.59, while the Nifty gained 44.40 points, or 0.26%, to 17,151.90. About 1993 shares rose, 1421 fell, and 128 remained constant.

Temasek sells Rs 499.4 crore shares in Devyani International

Dunearn Investments Mauritius Pte Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temasek Holdings, sold 3.44 crore equity shares, or 2.85% of Devyani International, in open market transactions for Rs 499.4 crore at an average price of Rs 145.04 per share.

However, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, through its Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund, purchased 62 lakh shares, or 0.51% of Yum Brands’ largest franchisee in India, at an average price of Rs 145, for Rs 89.9 crore.

On the BSE, Devyani International was trading at Rs 143.50, up Rs 1.50, or 1.06 percent.
