Top 5 stocks of the day: German retail sales dip
German retail sales fell 5.3% in December, while the Chicago PMI in the US fell to 44.3, before falling dxy to 102.10. The API crude inventory forecast showed yet another build-up in US weekly oil reserves across the product line; however, traders should be cautious ahead of the EIA data because another build-up in inventory would be the fourth weekly inventory gain, which could trigger a sell-off in oil prices. Lower ISM manufacturing figures may also weigh on oil prices. The market's primary focus remains on the outcome of the US FOMC.
