Top 5 stocks of the day: Major losers on the Nifty included Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, NTPC, and Larsen & Toubro, while gainers included Nestle India, Power Grid Corporation, SBI, Britannia Industries, and Coal India. On the sectoral front, the oil & gas, real estate, and FMCG indices all increased by 1%, while the PSU Bank index increased by 3% and the information technology and pharmaceutical indices declined by 4.7% and 0.6%, respectively. While the smallcap index increased 0.15 percent, the BSE midcap index increased by 0.5 percent.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

On April 17, Indian benchmark indices finished down, with Nifty hovering around 17,700. The Nifty was down 121.20 points or 0.68 percent at 17,706.80 at closure, and the Sensex was down 520.25 points or 0.86 percent at 59,910.75. 180 shares were unchanged, 1,747 shares rose, and 1,739 shares fell.

Top 5 stocks of the day: TV18 spurts 3% on the back of a strategic deal for subsidiary Viacom18

In a recent filing with the BSE, Viacom18 reported that the transaction for the strategic collaboration with Reliance, Bodhi Tree Systems, and Paramount Global had been completed. The TV18 Company's subsidiary, Viacom 18 Media Private Limited, is a business.

The media statement further stated that Viacom18 has Rs 15,145 crores in cash on hand and plans to revolutionise the digital industry. The media and entertainment industry will be the centre of the strategic partnership with Reliance, Bodhi Tree Systems, and Paramount Global, and Viacom18 will continue to be a controlled subsidiary of TV18.
