Dollar eases as traders gear up for Fed skip

On Wednesday, the dollar remained close to multi-week lows against the euro and the pound after unexpectedly weak U.S. inflation data confirmed the Federal Reserve's decision not to hike interest rates later that day.

After the central bank lowered interest rates, China's currency fell to its lowest level in six and a half months, and there is growing anticipation that additional stimulus may be introduced to aid the stuttering post-COVID economic recovery. The dollar index, which compares the performance of the dollar against six other currencies, was unchanged at 103.20 after yesterday reaching its lowest level since May 22.
