Top 5 stocks of the day: On the Nifty, the top gainers were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and Nestle India; the top losers were Eicher Motors, Bharti Airtel, M&M, Bajaj Auto, and HDFC Bank. PSU Bank and healthcare both saw 0.5 percent sectoral increases, but the bank index saw a 0.5 percent decline. The main indices underperformed the broader indices, adding 0.5 percent apiece for BSE Midcap and Smallcap.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

The Nifty was up 10.50 points, or 0.05 percent, at 21,741.90 at the close, while the Sensex was up 31.68 points, or 0.04 percent, at 72,271.94. A little over 2453 shares rose, 1298 shares fell, and 147 shares remained unchanged. In the incredibly turbulent session on January 1, Indian benchmark indices concluded marginally higher, with Nifty closing at 21,750.

Yes Bank shares surged 7 percent

Yes Bank's stock increased 7% on January 1st, bringing it one step closer to its 52-week high of Rs 23.05 per share. Following the private lender's announcement that it would receive Rs 150 crore from a single trust in the Security Receipts Portfolio following the sale of the NPA portfolio, the stock experienced an upward movement. Given the increased interest from investors, the stock might continue to trade positively in the near future.
