Top 5 Stocks Of The Day: BPCL, Coal India, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid Corp, and NTPC are the Nifty's biggest losers, while Tata Steel, SBI, JSW Steel, Tata Consumer Products, and IndusInd Bank gained ground. Except for real estate and public sector banks, all other indices are down. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices lost 1% each.

The Sensex closed down 434.31 points, or 0.59 percent, at 72,623.09, while the Nifty fell 142.00 points, or 0.64 percent, to 22,055.00. Approximately 1227 shares gained, 2078 shares decreased, and 69 shares were unchanged. On February 21, Indian market indices interrupted a six-day gaining streak and ended lower, with the Nifty below 22,100.

Whirlpool Mauritius sold a 24 percent stake in the company

As parent company Whirlpool Mauritius sold a 24 percent ownership in the company on February 20, a number of mutual funds, led by SBI Mutual Funds, invested in Whirlpool of India. However, for the time being the Street is not making a beeline for the shares. A 52-week low of Rs 1,257, reached in February of last year, was not too far away from the current trading level for Whirlpool of India shares. Since November of last year, when the parent company initially declared its plan to reduce its investment, the stock price has not recovered. A sluggish market for consumer durables has severely hurt the corporation. In the last three years, the stock price has dropped by half due to the exacerbation of the situation caused by high commodity prices.
