Chandigarh Airport To Be Named After Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Chandigarh International Airport will now be known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. An agreement has been reached between the Government of Haryana and Punjab to change the name of the airport. From the very beginning, there was discussion about renaming the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Which is now stamped.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala held a meeting on the change of name of Chandigarh International Airport. In this meeting, both sides agreed to name the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. From now on the international airport of Chandigarh will be known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. Ever since Chandigarh Airport was built, there was doubt about its name which is over now.

In the year 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the international airport of Chandigarh. This airport has been made two storey. There is a terminal for domestic flights on the first floor and for international flights on the second. There are 48 ticket counters and 10 immigration counters at the airport.

There was a lot of doubt from the beginning about the name of Chandigarh airport. Both Haryana and Punjab have been claiming their rights at this airport. Somewhere the name of this airport of Chandigarh was written as Mohali Airport and somewhere Chandigarh Airport. But now both the states have agreed on the name of the airport.
