CM Yogi Adityanath Govt Relaxes Wheat Procurement Norms, Big Relief for Farmers Hit by Untimely Rains in UP

The relaxed norms aim to ensure that farmers are still able to sell their produce without facing rejection at procurement centers.

The government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced major relief measures for farmers affected by untimely rains by relaxing wheat procurement norms for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27 in Uttar Pradesh.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Relief for Farmers Facing Crop Damage

The decision comes after unseasonal rainfall impacted wheat quality in several parts of the state. The relaxed norms aim to ensure that farmers are still able to sell their produce without facing rejection at procurement centers.

Revised Quality Standards

Under the new guidelines:

  • Up to 70% lustreless (non-shiny) wheat grains will now be accepted
  • The permissible limit of broken grains has been increased from 6% to 20%

These changes are expected to significantly reduce losses for farmers.

Improved Procurement Arrangements

Authorities have strengthened procurement systems to ensure smooth operations and avoid delays, especially during peak arrival periods at mandis.

Helpline for Farmer Support

A toll-free helpline (1800-180-0150) has been introduced to assist farmers with complaints and queries related to procurement.

Protecting Farmer Income

By allowing the procurement of slightly damaged crops, the government aims to safeguard farmer incomes and prevent distress sales.

Positive Impact on Agricultural Sector

Experts believe that such timely interventions will boost farmer confidence and ensure stability in the agricultural sector despite weather-related challenges.
