Complaint Against Director Vivek Agnihotri?

Vivek Agnihotri, director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, is seen in constant controversy these days. The film, which earned more than 200 crores, has also faced opposition reaction. At the same time, the director of the film seems to be in legal trouble regarding one of his controversial statements. A demand has also been made to register an FIR with this complaint.

In fact, a complaint was made to the police in Mumbai against the recent statement given by the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Bhopali Mane Gay’ and a request has been made to register an FIR against him under defamation and other sections. A police officer said on Saturday that the complaint against Vivek Agnihotri was lodged at Versova police station by journalist and celebrity PR manager Rohit Pandey through his lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh.

The complainant alleged that the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ insulted and disrespected his (Pandey’s) native place Bhopal by “willingly, wantonly and maliciously calling Bhopalis as homosexuals” in an interview with media, the official said quoting the complaint.

The complainant has sought registration of an FIR against Mr Agnihotri under sections 153 A and B for promoting enmity between different groups, 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 298 (Uttering words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings), 500 (Punishment for defamation), 505-II (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes).

Significantly, before going to the film festival held in Bhopal on Friday, the controversial video of Agnihotri’s interview had gone viral on online channels. This video is being told about three weeks old.
