Congress Protest Against Inflation: Congress will hold a nationwide protest against inflation and unemployment, under which Congress Working Committee (CWC) members and senior party leaders are planning to gherao the Prime Minister’s residence.
Due to this, section 144 of CrPC has been implemented in the entire area of New Delhi district except Jantar Mantar.
Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari had informed about the nationwide protest on Thursday. He said permission has been sought for the march to Rashtrapati Bhavan and it is expected that more than 80 party MPs will be allowed to go there peacefully. Party spokesperson Syed Nasir Hussain said, “Our party’s office-bearer general secretary, CWC members will be present in AICC and will take out a march from there. All party MPs will march till Rashtrapati Bhavan. We will march against inflation and for the poor people of the country.”
The party will also organize a gherao program of the Prime Minister’s residence in which CWC members and senior leaders will participate. The CWC is the supreme policy-making body of the Congress. The Congress has asked its state units to organize a Raj Bhavan gherao on August 5 on behalf of the State Congress Committee in which MLAs, members of the Legislative Council, former MPs and senior leaders of the state unit will be involved. The party also decided that from the panchayat to the district level, the representatives of the Congress would protest at the district headquarters. To make today’s protest of Congress successful, all MPs have given the slogan of Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan.
