In view of the shortage of liquor in the country capital Delhi due to the closure of private liquor shops from August 1, Arvind Kejriwal’s government is contemplating to extend the new excise policy by one month. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government has decided to withdraw the new excise policy for the time being and has directed the sale of liquor through government-run shops.

According to the input received from the media agency, a proposal is likely to be presented before the Delhi Cabinet soon regarding the extension of the policy for 2021-22 in view of the chaos due to the closure of private liquor shops and the time required to open government contracts.
