Delhi Witnessing Rise In Covid Cases

Within 24 hours, 366 new corona patients increased in the country’s capital Delhi. The positivity rate on Thursday was 2.49 percent, which reached 3.95% on Friday. It is clear that the infection is spreading rapidly. The number of active cases in the capital has crossed the 1,000 mark. If Corona spreads in Delhi, then its all-round effect can be seen because people come from here to many states. However, CM Arvind Kejriwal has assured the people that the situation is under control and 65,000 beds are being prepared to deal with the threat of a big wave in the capital.

Kejriwal said the government is monitoring the situation and hospitalization is not required in most cases. The CM has clearly said that the pace of admission of patients in the hospital has not increased, so there is no need to panic, nothing to worry.

Meanwhile, there is news that in view of the speed of Corona, the Delhi government may re-implement some Covid-restrictions. Also no case of XE variant has been reported in the capital. About 300 samples have been sent for genome sequencing. An official statement issued by the government said that if the infection spreads, the government has made preparations to increase 100 oxygen beds in every ward of Delhi within two weeks.

In such a situation, the preparation of the state government is 65 thousand beds so that no person has a shortage of beds in emergency. At present, 37,000 Covid beds and 10,594 Covid ICU beds are available in Delhi. Health Minister Satyendar Jain says that we have asked all hospitals to be on alert. If needed, RTPCR testing will also be increased.

Actually, children are getting corona infected rapidly when the school opens. It is clear from the government data that the number of people hospitalized due to Covid-19 is very less. At present, it is 0.52 percent of the active cases in Delhi.

However, there is a growing concern that 27 percent of Covid patients in Delhi’s hospitals are children. According to the data of Delhi Corona App, 51 Covid patients are currently admitted in the hospitals of the capital. Of these, at least 14 (27 per cent) are children. Twelve children are admitted at Kalavati Saran Children’s Hospital, one at Indraprastha Apollo and one at Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital. Dr. Srikant Basu, Senior Professor, Kalavati Saran Hospital, said that in general, children do not develop serious illness from Covid.
