BJP leader Rahul Sinha was banned today from campaigning for 48 hours in Bengal over his provocative statements.

The EC’s ban starts from Tuesday noon till 12 pm on April 15, over his remarks on Sitalkuchi, Cooch Behar violencein which five people lost their lives, including four who were shot dead by the central forces.

Sinha had allegedly said, that not four, but eight people should have been shot by the central forces in Cooch Behar’s Sitalkuchi.

Sinha said, “Not four, eight people should have been shot dead in Shitalkuchi.” Rahul Sinha made the “eight should have been shot, not four” statement during an election rally in the constituency.

“Commission hereby strongly condemns the above statements made by Rahul Sinha, BJP, and sternly warns him to be careful from using such statements while making public utterances during the period when Model Code of Conduct is in force,” according to an order.
