Nirmala Mishra: Famous Bengali singer dies at 81, funeral today in Kolkata

Nirmala Mishra: Eminent Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra was one of the most respected and famous playback singers. She sang numerous songs for Oriya and Bengali films. There are so many popular Bengali songs like ‘Emon Ekta Jhinuk’, ‘Bolo To Arshi’, ‘Kagojer Phool Bole’, ‘E Banglar Mati Chai’ and ‘Aami Tomar’ to which she gave her voice.

Famous Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra died today because of a heart attack. Mishra died at the age of 81. For a long time, She was struggling with age-related ailments for quite some time. She was at her residence in South Kolkata’s Chetla area today. The singer has also been awarded the Balkrishna Das Award.

Doctors treating Nirmala Mishra said that she suffered a heart attack at around 12.05 pm today and was taken to a nearby nursing home, where she was declared brought dead. “Mishra’s body will be kept in the hospital tonight,” they said.

Nirmala Mishra has sung numerous Bengali songs. Apart from this, she also gave her melodious voice to film songs like ‘Tumi Akash Ekkhun Jodi’ and ‘Ami Hariye Felechi Ganer Sathire’.
