The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide agitation from October 2, 2026, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and greater accountability in the functioning of the Election Commission.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the protest programme, citing alleged irregularities in electoral rolls as one of the issues behind the campaign.

CJP Protest From October 2
According to the announcement, the agitation will begin in Mumbai on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and will subsequently be taken to different parts of the country.
The campaign is centred on the CJP’s demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The organisation has also called for greater accountability in the functioning of the Election Commission.
Demand for Gyanesh Kumar Resignation
Dipke has alleged irregularities in electoral-roll processes and has linked these concerns to the demand for the CEC’s resignation.
These are allegations made by the CJP. The Election Commission has maintained that electoral-roll revisions are carried out through established legal and procedural mechanisms. Recent reporting has also noted that the Commission ordered a review of its voter-roll software following concerns raised over changes to electoral rolls.
Protest to Be Taken Across India
The CJP has said that the agitation will move beyond Mumbai and reach other parts of the country. The organisation has also indicated plans for a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi as part of the wider campaign.
The announcement comes amid wider political and public debate over electoral-roll verification and the functioning of the Election Commission.
Electoral Roll Issue at Centre of Campaign
The CJP’s protest campaign has placed electoral-roll changes at the centre of its demands. The organisation has questioned the process and is seeking accountability from the Election Commission.
The Election Commission, meanwhile, has continued to defend its procedures and has announced measures to review aspects of the voter-roll update process.
