Every year on December 22, Mathematics Day is celebrated on the birthday of Ramanujan, the great mathematician of India. Ramanujan has made his valuable contribution in the field of mathematics. In the year 2012, the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh paid tribute to Ramanujan on his 125th birth anniversary on 22 December. Then it was announced to celebrate this day as Mathematics Day and now 22 December is celebrated as Mathematics Day all over the country.

Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in Erode, Ramanujan belonged to the Tamil Brahman family. In 1903 he joined the Government College at Kumbakonam.

In 1918, Ramanujan was elected as a fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, Royal Society and Trinity College, Cambridge.

Ramanujan died at the age of 32. In 2015, the film ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’ was released based on his biography. There are many stories related to his life in this film. The ups and downs in his life through the film have also been explained in detail. In 1976, an old register was found in the library of Trinity College, in which theorem and many formulas were written. No one has been able to solve these theorem yet. This register is also known as ‘Ramanujan Note Book’.
