Hardik Patel BJP: Hardik Patel to join hands of BJP on June 2. Recently, Hardik Patel left the Congress. Hitting out at the Congress, Hardik Patel wrote that the party’s politics has been limited to protests only.
CAA-NRC and Article 370 were also mentioned by Hardik in his letter. He had written, the country does not need a protest, but an alternative that thinks about their future. Be it the temple of Shri Ram in Ayodhya, the issue of CAA-NRC, the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir or the implementation of GST. The country wanted a solution to them for a long time and the Congress party continued to act as a hindrance in this.
Before resigning, Hardik Patel had removed the name and post of the party from his Twitter handle. After this, speculation had intensified that he may announce to leave the party soon. Assembly elections are to be held in Gujarat this year. In such a situation, Patel’s departure can prove to be a big setback for the Congress.
The Congress had benefited from Patel’s agitation demanding reservation for Patidars in 2017, but the community’s support for the party has weakened since he joined the Congress in 2019. The Congress was left behind in the 2017 Gujarat elections as it fell short by just nine seats in the state’s 182-member assembly. It was then believed that he had the potential to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had been in power in the state for more than two decades. But now with Hardik’s departure, the contest has become difficult for the Congress.
