AAP leader Anurag Dhanda, sharing visuals of the enthusiasm, said, “People are standing in lines with hope and excitement. Every resident of Punjab will get ₹10 lakh cashless health cover under CM Bhagwant Mann’s government. This kind of healthcare model is unmatched anywhere in the world.”

The scheme is designed to provide universal healthcare access without discrimination, ensuring financial security for families during medical emergencies. Registration camps are being set up district by district to ensure smooth rollout, with officials assuring that within weeks, every eligible household will be covered.

Citizens, too, expressed relief. Standing in line at a Ludhiana camp, a beneficiary said, “Earlier we had to borrow money or sell assets for hospital bills. Now, with this health card, our family feels secure.” Similar sentiments were echoed across Amritsar, Patiala, and Bathinda, where people braved long queues with hope in their eyes.

Experts believe the scheme will reduce the burden of out-of-pocket expenditure on households

Experts believe the scheme will reduce the burden of out-of-pocket expenditure on households while improving access to quality treatment in private and government hospitals. It is also being seen as a major step in strengthening Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure and making it more inclusive.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly stressed that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. By ensuring such comprehensive coverage, the state government aims to provide dignity, security, and relief to every Punjabi family.
