Anurag Dhanda: Punjab’s healthcare transformation under the Bhagwant Mann-led government is now visibly impacting lives across the state. Aam Aadmi Clinics have emerged as the backbone of this health revolution, ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality medical services for ordinary citizens right in their neighbourhoods.
Anurag Dhanda: Punjab’s Health Revolution Gains Ground as Aam Aadmi Clinics
According to AAP leader Anurag Dhanda, nearly 4.6 crore people in Punjab have received free medical treatment through these clinics so far. This large-scale outreach reflects the government’s focus on preventive and primary healthcare, especially for low- and middle-income families who often struggle with rising medical costs.
Health experts note that the initiative has improved healthcare-seeking behaviour
The network of 850+ modern Aam Aadmi Clinics has significantly reduced the burden on major hospitals by treating common ailments locally. Alongside consultations and medicines, the clinics have also facilitated over 2.29 crore free laboratory tests, enabling early diagnosis and timely treatment.
Officials say the success of Aam Aadmi Clinics has also helped rebuild public trust in the government healthcare system. Patients report shorter waiting times, courteous staff, and consistent availability of medicines, which has reduced their dependence on expensive private hospitals. As the government plans further expansion and upgradation of these clinics, the focus remains on preventive care, women’s health, and chronic disease management, aiming to make Punjab a model state for accessible and people-centric healthcare.
Health experts note that the initiative has improved healthcare-seeking behaviour, with people now opting for regular check-ups instead of delaying treatment due to financial constraints. The clinics are equipped with trained doctors, essential medicines, and diagnostic facilities, making quality healthcare both accessible and reliable.
With a strong emphasis on “healthy Punjab, prosperous Punjab,” the state government maintains that investments in public health are investments in long-term social and economic development. The expanding reach of Aam Aadmi Clinics underscores a governance model focused on grassroots delivery, where healthcare is treated as a right rather than a privilege.
