The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has intensified its action against alleged corruption in the healthcare sector, imposing penalties on hospitals found violating the rules of a government health scheme.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced that strict action has been taken against hospitals accused of irregularities while providing services under the state’s healthcare programme. The minister said the government’s priority is to ensure transparency and protect patients from unfair practices.

According to the government, 14 hospitals have been fined more than ₹78.67 lakh for allegedly committing irregularities in the implementation of the health scheme. Authorities said the action was taken after investigations found violations of prescribed guidelines.

The Health Minister also stated that six affected patients’ families were refunded the money they had allegedly been charged improperly by certain hospitals. The refunds were facilitated following government intervention to ensure that beneficiaries received the services they were entitled to without unauthorized charges.
