The injury required medical attention and treatment, but financial constraints reportedly made it difficult for him to afford the necessary healthcare services.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has highlighted another beneficiary of the Punjab government’s healthcare initiatives, stating that a resident named Muhammad Zulfikar received free medical treatment under the state’s health insurance programme after suffering a serious knee injury.

According to the party, Zulfikar sustained a ligament injury in his knee after falling from a motorcycle. The injury required medical attention and treatment, but financial constraints reportedly made it difficult for him to afford the necessary healthcare services.

Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana aims to expand access to healthcare services

AAP stated that assistance was provided through the Punjab government’s health card programme, enabling him to undergo treatment without incurring medical expenses. The party described the case as an example of how government-supported healthcare schemes are helping residents access treatment during emergencies and reducing the financial burden on families.

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana aims to expand access to healthcare services by providing eligible beneficiaries with cashless treatment facilities at empanelled hospitals. The programme is intended to support individuals and families who may otherwise face difficulties in meeting healthcare costs.

Punjab government representatives have maintained that strengthening healthcare access remains a key priority, with efforts focused on improving medical infrastructure, expanding insurance coverage, and ensuring that residents can receive timely treatment regardless of their economic circumstances.

AAP leaders said such cases demonstrate the impact of welfare-oriented healthcare policies and the role of public health schemes in supporting citizens during times of medical need.
