Centre says, No deaths due to lack of oxygen reported during second Covid wave

Minister of State for Health, Bharti Praveen Pawar said that during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, no patient has died due to lack of oxygen from any state or union territory. She gave this information in a written reply to a question.

Minister of State for Health Bharati Praveen Pawar also said, ‘However, during the second wave of the Covid epidemic, the demand for oxygen had increased unexpectedly. During the first wave of the pandemic, the demand for this life-saving gas was 3095 metric tonnes, which increased to about 9000 metric tonnes during the second wave. Number of people have lost their lives.

Pawar said that health is a state subject and the states and union territories give regular information to the Center about the number of Covid cases and deaths. She said that the Union Health Ministry has issued detailed guidelines to all the states and union territories for reporting deaths due to Covid .He said that according to this, all the states and union territories regularly inform the central government about the number of cases of covid and the number of deaths due to it. However, no state or union territory has reported any loss of life due to lack of oxygen.
