He noted that patients and families, especially in eastern UP, suffered significantly due to diseases like Japanese Encephalitis.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath addressed the people of the state ahead of World Health Day on April 7. He extended his wishes and emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle for overall well-being.

He stated that good health forms the foundation of a strong society. The Chief Minister urged citizens to adopt preventive healthcare practices in their daily lives.

CM Yogi Adityanath: From poor healthcare to expanded infrastructure

Highlighting the past, Yogi Adityanath said that around nine years ago, the healthcare system in Uttar Pradesh was in a poor condition. He noted that patients and families, especially in eastern UP, suffered significantly due to diseases like Japanese Encephalitis.

He added that with sustained efforts, the state has been able to eliminate the long-standing threat of Japanese Encephalitis. This has brought major relief to affected regions and families.

Rapid growth in medical facilities

The Chief Minister said that healthcare infrastructure has seen a major boost in recent years. The number of medical colleges has increased from 36 in 2017 to 83 at present.

He emphasized that new hospitals, better facilities, and the appointment of specialist doctors have improved access to treatment. As a result, people no longer need to travel outside the state for quality healthcare.

Accessible and affordable healthcare services

According to the Chief Minister, essential services like medicines, diagnostic tests, and vaccinations have been made more accessible. Several initiatives have been launched to ensure affordability and reach.

He highlighted facilities such as 108 ambulance services, teleconsultation, mobile medical units, and free dialysis services. These efforts aim to strengthen healthcare delivery at all levels.

Expansion of grassroots health initiatives

The government has also focused on taking healthcare services to rural areas. Health camps and ‘Arogya Melas’ have been organized to reach people at the village level.

He stated that over one crore beneficiaries have received free medical coverage under various schemes. This has helped in reducing the financial burden on families.

Focus on preventive healthcare and wellness

Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare in achieving long-term wellness. Initiatives like Ayushman Arogya Mandir and yoga wellness centres have been set up across the state.

He said that these centres promote alternative and holistic methods of treatment. The goal is to ensure that people stay healthy rather than only seeking treatment after illness.

Sports ecosystem to promote health

The Chief Minister highlighted the direct connection between sports and health. He said that the government has been working to create a sports-friendly ecosystem across Uttar Pradesh.

He added that playgrounds are being developed in every gram panchayat, mini stadiums at the block level, and modern stadiums in each district.

Appeal to parents and youth

Yogi Adityanath urged parents to encourage children to participate in sports and physical activities. He noted that sports help in overall development and keep youth away from negative influences.
