Coronavirus updates: India reports 30,570 new cases

India on Thursday reported 30,570 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the country’s overall coronavirus tally has jumped to 33,347,325. This is the seventh consecutive day when the fresh cases reported from across the country have remained below 40,000.

The top five states which registered the maximum cases of the novel coronavirus are Kerala with 17,681 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,783 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,658 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,445 cases and Mizoram with 1,402 cases.

Of 30,570 new COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths reported in the last 24 hours in India, Kerala recorded 17,681 COVID cases and 208 deaths, yesterday.

Mizoram reported 1,402 COVID-19 cases (positivity rate – 17.43%) and two deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in Mizoram reached 13,973 and number of patients discharged is 61,247. Meanwhile, Death toll touched 250.

India has administered a total of 64,51,423 doses in the last 24 hours. A total of 76,57,17,137 doses have been administered in the country so far.

A total of 15,79,761 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

On Wednesday, India’s drugs regulator granted permission to Dr Reddy’s Laboratories to conduct phase 3 clinical trials for Sputnik Light, the single dose and first component of the Russian made Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19.

Globally, the Delta variant continues to create problems for nations. The US, Australia, and China have been battling to check its spread.
