Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has highlighted the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government’s health card initiative, which offers free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh, saying the scheme aims to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent people from accessing healthcare.
In a post on social media platform X, Bains said the health card was becoming a source of hope for families in need by helping reduce the financial burden associated with expensive medical treatment.
“Now, no one’s treatment should stop due to a lack of money,” Bains said in his post, highlighting the government’s focus on making healthcare more accessible to families facing financial difficulties.
Focus on Reducing the Financial Burden of Healthcare
Bains said the scheme was intended to provide relief to families worried about the cost of medical care. The initiative aims to help eligible beneficiaries access treatment without having to bear the entire expense themselves, subject to the scheme’s coverage and applicable conditions.
Medical expenses can place considerable pressure on household budgets, particularly when families require hospitalisation or treatment for serious illnesses. By highlighting the ₹10 lakh treatment cover, Bains emphasised the importance of financial support in helping people seek medical attention when needed.
Bhagwant Mann Government’s Healthcare Initiative
The minister credited the Bhagwant Mann-led government with introducing the initiative as part of its efforts to improve access to healthcare in Punjab.
According to Bains, the health card is intended to encourage families to seek necessary treatment without allowing financial hardship to become a barrier. He described the initiative as a step towards helping people move towards healthier lives.
