India reports 30,256 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

India recorded 30,256 new COVID-19 cases and 295 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall caseload to 3,34,78,419 and death toll to 4,45,133, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday (September 20, 2021).

Out of the 30,256 cases recorded in the country, Kerala added recorded 19,653 COVID-19 cases and over 152 deaths.

The number of people who recovered from the infection since Saturday was 26,711 which brought the total recoveries to 43,10,674 and the number of active cases to 1,73,631, an official press release said.

India on Sunday had recorded a 15% drop in Covid-19 cases, the lowest in the last six months, even as several states reported mass gatherings due to Ganesh Chaturthi.

In Delhi, no death was registered due to Covid on Sunday. There was one death each registered on Saturday and Friday. Delhi reported 28 new Covid positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total coronavirus infection tally so far to 14,38,497 since early 2020.

Maharashtra, the worst-hit state in terms of overall Covid cases, reported 3,413 new cases in a day. It also reported 49 deaths.

Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh – the four big states – reported zero Covid deaths. Uttarakhand and Jharkhand also reported zero Covid deaths.

India has administered over 80.85 crore vaccine doses under the ongoing nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

More than 79.58 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to States and UTs so far, the Union Health Ministry said on September 20.

Further, more than 15 lakh doses are in the pipeline.

Over 5.43 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered, the ministry said.
