Maharashtra announces ‘level 3’ restrictions in view of Delta Plus

After the first death in the state due to Corona’s new variant ‘Delta Plus’, the Maharashtra government has tightened the rules of unlock. In fact, an 80-year-old woman infected with the Delta Plus variant died in Ratnagiri district of the state on Friday. After this the government has started strict. So far 21 cases of Delta+ have been reported in the state.

The state government has said that relaxation in corona restrictions will not be given at the cost of people’s health. Also, the government has now said that all tests will be RTPCR only. The government says that now more and more people will be vaccinated by increasing the speed of vaccination.

According to a new order, the decision to open other public places including malls in districts like Thane and Pune has been postponed for a few days. Also other shops and public offices will be closed till 4 pm.

Significantly, the Maharashtra Health Department had given a presentation last week in which it was said that the new form of infection ‘Delta Plus’ could cause the third wave of Covid-19 in the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, members of the state Covid-19 task force and members of the health department also attended the meeting. This new form ‘Delta Plus’ is made up of ‘mutation’ in ‘Delta’ or ‘B.1.617.2’ form that first appeared in India. ‘Delta’ was also one of the reasons for the second wave of infection in India.

On Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry shared important information about the Delta Plus variant of the corona virus. Bhushan had said that by writing a letter to the states, ways have been made to deal with the Delta Plus variant. He said that we do not want the Delta Plus variant to go ahead.
