The government has informed that the Russian vaccine Sputnik V will be available in the Indian market by next week.
He said that after this the supply will also increase further. Its production will start in July and it is estimated that 15.6 crore doses will be manufactured in that period.
NITI Aayog member Dr. Paul said, “I am happy to say that Sputnik V vaccine has arrived in India. We hope that this vaccine will be available in the market next week. We hope that the limited supply of this vaccine from Russia will start selling next week. “
This vaccine of Russia has been described as the world’s first Corona vaccine. During the trial itself, Russia had approved the use of Emergency on August 12 and shocked the countries around the world by claiming the first corona vaccine. This Russian vaccine has been prepared by the Gamalia National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Russia with the help of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RIDF).
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, testing it in India, sought approval for its emergency use in April itself. The clinical trial of the vaccine was carried out in September 2020 by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories with RDIF.
It was approved in India on 12 April. According to media reports, 850 million doses of it will be prepared in the country.
In the interim results of the Phase 3 trial of the Russian vaccine, its Efficacy has been found to be 91.6 percent. Russia too claimed to be 92 percent successful. However, there was not enough data available then and hence there was a slight delay in its approval in India .
