Oxygen deficiency is being faced in many states amidst increasing cases of corona. Talking with news agency ANI here, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said that states should control their demand regarding the supply of medical oxygen. He has also said that it is the responsibility of the states to control the corona.
The central government decided on Sunday that from April 22, oxygen will not be supplied to industries other than 9 industries to fight the corona crisis. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that this decision has been taken to ensure adequate supply of oxygen to hospitals. He also said that states should control their demand regarding the supply of medical oxygen. Because management of demand as well as supply is important.
Goyal said that before Corona, the consumption of medical oxygen in India was 1000 to 1200 MT. But on April 15, the country has consumed 4,795 metric tons of medical oxygen.
He also said that in the last one year the capacity of medical oxygen is being increased in the country. He said that 1500 metric tonnes of oxygen will be supplied to Maharashtra.
