New Delhi: Sometimes the most seemingly unimportant health issues can be signs of a fatal illness; for one guy, this nightmare came true when physicians realised that his persistent cough was a potentially serious ailment. An unsettling x-ray scan identified the parasite in the body as tapeworms.
The cyst may also get into the eyes
Cysticercosis is a disorder that happens when a kind of tapeworm, which normally lives in the intestines, sends its larvae into the muscles or brain tissue. It typically happens after consuming contaminated food, mainly meat. Through the skin, one may feel the hard cysts that the larvae produce. Due to how quickly worms decompose, it is usually safe. However, the cysts left over from deceased worms might seriously harm your health. Doctors advise surgery as a treatment for this. The cyst may also get into the eyes, which could lead to distorted or hazy vision.
It takes years or months for the cysts to appear infection
Cysts that adhere to the lungs can cause coughing fits and chest pain. Additionally, they can cause neurocysticerosis, the most severe type of tapeworm infection that can result in seizures and epilepsy, if they grow in the spinal cord or brain. Mild gastrointestinal symptoms can be brought on by intestinal tapeworms:
- Loss Of appetite
- Nausea
- Hunger
- Diarrhoea
- Fatigue
- stomach pain
These can also take the form of tumours under the skin and can harm internal organs. Usually, it takes years or months for the cysts to appear following the tapeworm egg infection.
