World Health Organisation declares Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency

WHO has removed Corona, which has been troubling the world for almost four years, from the purview of Global Health Emergency.

The World Health Organization (WHO) made a big announcement saying that Covid is no longer a public global health emergency. We took a decision regarding this in the 15th meeting of the Emergency Committee.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Yesterday (Thursday, May 4) the Emergency Committee met for the 15th time. Do it. I have accepted his advice.”

When did the public become a global health emergency?

WHO said that on 30 January 2020, Covid was declared a Global Health Emergency. According to the Health Organization, when Corona was declared a global health emergency, there were less than 100 corona cases in China and no one died, but after three years the death toll rose to 7 million, which was reported. We think that about 2 crore people have lost their lives in this.

Why was it removed from the public global health emergency?

WHO said that the decision to remove Corona from Public Global Health Emergency has been taken in view of the decline in the cases of Covid in the last one year. The health organization said that Covid had such a big impact that it remained closed from school to office. Many people went through stress and anxiety during this time. It also destroyed the world economy.

What did the Director General of WHO say?

WHO Director General Dr. Tedros said that removing Corona from the global health emergency does not mean that Covid is over. Last week itself, Covid was killing one every three minutes. Still new variants are coming. In such a situation, there is a need to be vigilant.
