Indian Navy has successfully flight-tested the short-range surface-to-air vertical launch missile

Missile Test Successful: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully flight-tested the short-range surface-to-air vertical launch missile from the Chandipur Integrated Test Range off the Odisha coast.

This test was done on Friday 24 June from the Indian Naval Ship. VL-SRSAM is a ship-deployed weapon system that can neutralize limited-range aerial threats, including ocean-skimming targets.

The missile was successfully tested against a high-speed aerial target aircraft. The fly track of the vehicle was monitored using multiple tracking devices deployed by ITR, Chandipur and keeping in mind the health parameters. The test launch was supervised by senior officials of DRDO and Indian Navy.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Navy and Industry for the successful flight test and said that a weapon in the form of this system has been inducted, which will further enhance the defense capability of Indian Navy ships against air threats. .

Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar lauded the Indian Navy and DRDO for the successful flight test of VL-SRSAM and said that the development of this indigenous missile system will further strengthen the defensive capabilities of the Indian Navy.

PM Modi’s self-reliant India
Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO lauded the teams involved in the successful flight test. He said, the test has proved the integration of indigenous weapon systems on the ships of the Indian Navy. He said that this will prove to be a boost to the strength of the Indian Navy and is another milestone in the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Self-reliant India’.
