International Men’s Day: A lowdown on 10 Indian icons who show you the way

International Men’s Day: God made men for a reason and allows us to appreciate their existence. As the world celebrates International Men’s Day on November 19, let’s recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements of these 10 men from India:

Narendra Modi

Anand Mahindra

Indian billionaire businessman, and the chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Gopal Mahindra’s  business group operations span 22 industries – from auto to information technology to real estate.

An incisive business commentator and humanitarian, Mahindra has over 8.5 million followers on twitter. He has a passion for cinema and a keen interest in filmmaking, a subject he pursued as an undergraduate at Harvard. Virat Kohli

Cricketer and former captain of the India national cricket team, Virat Kohli plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The right-handed batsman, Kohli made his Test debut in 2011. He topped the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen for the first time in 2013,  has won Man of the Tournament twice at the ICC World Twenty20 (in 2014 and 2016) and also holds the world record of being the fastest to score 24,000 international career runs.

Kohli is the leading run scorer of all time in T20s, as well as the current leading run scorer in T20 World Cups. In 2016, he was ranked as one of the world’s most famous athletes by ESPN.

Prabhas

One of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinemaPrabhas has featured in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list three times since 2015 based on his income and popularity. He has received seven Filmfare Awards South nominations and is a recipient of the Nandi Award and the SIIMA Award. In 2015, Prabhas starred in the title role in S. S. Rajamouli’s epic action film Baahubali: The Beginning, which is the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film to date. He later reprised his role in its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), the first Indian film ever to gross over ₹1,000 crore in all languages in just ten days, and is the second highest-grossing Indian film to date.

Gautam Adani

Indian billionaire industrialist, Gautam Adani  is the chairman and founder of Adani Group, a multinational conglomerate involved in port development and operations in India. Adani is also the president of Adani Foundation, which is primarily led by his wife, Priti Adani. As of November 2022, with a net worth of US$140.2 billion according to Forbes and $133 billion according to Bloomberg, he is the richest person in Asia and the third richest person in the world.

Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), a Fortune Global 500 company and India’s most valuable company by market value. According to Forbes and Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ambani’s net worth is estimated at US$95.7 billion, making him the second richest person in Asia after Gautam Adani and the 8th richest in the world. Through Reliance, he also owns the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians and is the founder of the Indian Super League, a football league in India.

SS Rajamouli

Director Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli, popularly known as SS Rajamouli, is known for creating masterpiecesThe year 2022 has been special for the 49-year-old filmmaker as his film RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles, is now in the race for Oscars 2023. The makers of RRR have filed nominations for 14 categories under ‘For your consideration (FYC)’ campaign. This film also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in supporting roles. With a history of creating a magnum opus like Baahubali: The Beginning, and Baahubali 2, his film RRR has created magic at the box office.
